Manufacturing Support

BDS has provided manufacturing support services to Augusta based OEMs and paper producers that range from parts and raw materials storage to just-in-time replenishment and transportation services. Inbound receiving, quality control inspection and vendor compliance management ensures that production standards will be maintained and parts/materials arrive, as scheduled. Picking operations are done to support KANBAN, aftermarket parts distribution and raw material flows into production. Kitting, sequencing and sub–assembly is performed to prepare parts for presentation to the line along with re-packaging operations as required by the "lean manufacturing" process.

Transportation services shuttles trailers of production materials or sequenced parts to manufacturing facilities to meet JIT schedules. Yard management is provided to account for inventory aboard trailers and spotting services to move loads to plant receiving doors, as requested.

In-plant material handling services up to line-side replenishment can be provided and fully integrated to support the production process.

Value added services such as reverse logistics, management of returnables, end stage customization (final assembly) or repackaging are provided on an “as needed” or daily basis. Then the finished goods/complete goods distribution process is managed by BDS shipping to include loading of domestic trailers and railcars, or stuffing of containers bound for export shipment.
