What's new at BDS?
Bennett Distribution Services Expands Warehouse Locations
BDS has opened a new 237,500 square foot rail served warehouse and distribution center location in Augusta, GA. The newly renovated facility, located at 922 Molly Pond Road, features state of the art security that provides both BDS management and our customers with internet accessed remote viewing of the facility’s closed circuit surveillance system. As a continuation of Bennett’s on-going “GREEN Initiatives”, we installed energy efficient T5, “High Bay” florescent lighting throughout the warehouse. These fixtures reduce energy consumption while providing brighter, cooler lighting than comparable incandescent/halogen products commonly in use.
The opening of this facility expands BDS capabilities to provide our key customers a broader range of comprehensive warehousing and distribution services including contract logistics, shared space warehousing, project management and manufacturing support services. The addition of the Molly Pond warehouse expands the company's Augusta operations scope to nearly 900,000 square feet, under roof.
New Toyota Forklifts arrive at BDS Airport
Mark Somers' BDS-airport crew started their 2nd Quarter operations mission with several brand new Toyota lift trucks they had been looking forward to since we announced their purchase at year end, 2010. We selected Toyota because of their well deserved reputation for quality, reliability and safety. Owing to their success in these key areas Toyota has been the number one lift truck supplier worldwide for the past eight years and rated number one for lowest cost of ownership in the United States for the last seven years.
With Bennett's safety culture as the cornerstone of our operations, Toyota is a great fit! Their System of Active Stability ™ (SAS) is leading edge safety technology focused on reducing likelihood of tip over, facilitating the reduction of lift truck accidents and saving lives. Their ergonomic design upgrades such as adjustable seats that swivel; mini-levers; rear assist grips with a horn button and tilting steering columns go a long way to reduce stress, minimize operator fatigue and lessen repetitive motion injuries.
We look forward to improved performance, greater reliability to meet production schedules and lower costs of operation that will help BDS improve service for all of our valued customers.
